Submersible Pressure Transducer

A transducer is an instrument used to produce readable output from translated energy sources. In industrial applications, transducers function to produce data on the depth or level of water. The submersible pressure transducer, for instance, translates the energy from being submerged into something interpretable, like a graphic chart.

Used in Water
A submersible pressure transducer is used to measure water level. The transducer itself can be completely immersed in water and be resistant to corrosion and other effects that can ruin other electrical devices. It usually comes with a long, vented cable. The purpose of this device is simply to monitor water level—like in a well, water tank, reservoir, river, lake, or shoreline.

A submersible pressure transducer uses piezoelectric technology to measure water pressure and other factors—translating the input into a reading that shows how much the water has risen or fell. The cabling and the transducer casing are shielded from water intrusion by waterproof and non-corroding materials like titanium, platinum, and stainless steel alloys.

Like a Hose
A submersible pressure transducer looks pretty much like a hose with a narrow metal head that’s either welded or sealed with marine epoxy. It works well for both tame and extreme environments. To be accurate in their measurements, a pressure transducer will have to use a temperature-compensation system.

Different models for different water levels are available. One designed for shallow water may be useful for levels down to 3 feet. The models for the deeper depths can be used down to 500 feet. The shallow transducers are typically used in sewers and like waterways. They work even when the water level is only a few inches deep.

Low Power Needed
A submersible pressure transducer is really an amazing device in that it only needs electricity from a twelve volt battery to function. This is sufficient even if the wires in the submersible cable that runs to the device are hundreds of feet long. As a handy electrical device and durable for the demands of remote sensing tasks.

A submersible pressure transducer is a perfect companion tool for data logging, monitoring equipment, and telemetry.
